Itinerary

It is no secret that Heidelberg is a jewel among German travel destinations. During WWII, the city was almost completely spared allied bombings and as a result, Heidelberg has retained its baroque charm of narrow streets, picturesque houses and of course the world-famous Schloss (Castle). The Heidelberg Castle is a famous ruin, the most important Renaissance structure north of the Alps. The castle has only been partially rebuilt and is located 80 meters (260 ft) up the northern part of the Königstuhl hillside, and thereby dominates the view of the old downtown. Here you will follow a guided visit of the castles and Gardens of Heidelberg. After the visit, enjoy some free time for personal discovery and lunch.

In the afternoon, why not indulge yourself and discover some of the most famous German wines of the region by following the "Deutsche Weinstraße", the scenic German Wine Route? Established in 1935, the 85km-long Deutsche Weinstrasse meanders almost due north from the French border at Schweigen-Rechtenbach, connecting picturesque wine-growing villages that dot wooded hills of the Pfälzer Wald and the broad, flat Rhine valley. Not surprisingly, wine is the main attraction; much of it dry, white and made with Riesling grapes, though reds made with Pinot Noir are increasingly attracting praise. Here, your guide can organise a stop at a local winery or just follow the scenic route and stop in small traditional villages such as Freinsheim and enjoy the real feel of the area. After the tour, return to Strasbourg.

Benefit from the undivided attention of your guide on this private tour.
