Itinerary

Day 1, Arrival in Loire Valley
Arrival at Tours or Saint Pierre des Corps train station in the morning. You meet with your private expert national lisenced English-speaking guide.

Guided tour of Tours with a stop at the Christmas market. Christmas season is very a festive and animated season in Tour. Ancient Capital of the Kingdom of France, Tour is an elegant city with a festive and animated historical center. Place Plumereau is one of the hallmarks of the city historical center. This small square surrounded by magnificent half-timbered houses is the liveliest place in the city, at the heart of the historic centre. The city of Tours will delight you with its medieval center, the great shopping areas and vivacious gastronomy and flavors of local markets. Indeed cheeses, selected meats and delicatessen products, local foie gras, wine, oysters, spices... the covered markets in Tours are a delight for the senses. High quality products, with over fifty stalls to choose from. And regular produce market take place everyday. The city of Tour also is home for a magnificent St. Gatien Gothic Cathedral and the Basilica that houses the tomb of Saint Martin. The city is filled with superb city parks and gardens like the Botanical Garden. Great experiences are awaiting you in Tours!

Chateau de Chenonceau: guided tour (includes skip-the-line entrances). The unique architecture of the Chateau makes it one of the most exquisite Chateaux in the Loire Valley. Nicknamed “the ladies castle", Chenonceau is related to important French women such as Catherine de Medici. The magnificent Renaissance gardens around it make it even more spectacular.

Day 2, Christmas in the castles
At 9:30 am, your private English-speaking guide meets you at your hotel. 

Guided tour of Chateau de Chambord (includes skip-the-line entrances). In the middle of a forest as large as the city of Paris Chambord was the first Loire Valley chateau listed in the world heritage by UNESCO. Ordered in 1519 by King Francois I, with 426 rooms, 77 staircases and 282 fireplaces,, it is the largest castle in the region. Leonardo da Vinci is the creator of its incredible double helix staircase.

Tour and tasting at a master chocolate maker. Located in the heart of the Sologne between Chambord and Cheverny, the chocolate factory Max Vauché, founded by master chocolatier of the same name, will show you the entire universe of chocolate, its origins, culture and the various stages of processing. This unique site is dedicated to all lovers of chocolate, all those who wish to understand better its production and appreciate its tasting.

Around 5:30 pm, drop off at your hotel.

Day 3, Christmas in the castles
At 9:30 am, your private English-speaking guide meets you at your hotel.

Guided tour Chateau de Blois (includes skip-the-line entrances). Royal residence, home of kings Louis XII and François I, this château is unique by its combination of four architectural styles around a single courtyard. Historically, the assassination of the Duc de Guise by king Henri III is a key moment in the wars of religion.

Private tour and wine tasting-lunch with a special Christmas meal. You are welcomed in this cellar cave, established in 1874. Daniel, owner and wine maker, specializes in mature Vouvray wines. He has a a large range of vintages, from 1947 to today. Made of chenin blanc the Vouvray is a mineral wine with a high acidity level which gives the wine a great aging capacity. The meal is based on the discovery of Loire Valley wines around a tasting of local products. Daniel is a simple and generous man who will share with you his passion for the Loire Valley wines.

  • 3 white wines paired with cheeses.
  • 2 or 3 red wines (Bourgueil, Saint Nicolas de Bourgueil, Chinon) paired with the meal.
  • 1 semi-dry or sweet wine with dessert

Guided tour of Chateau d'Amboise (includes skip-the-line entrances). The Royal Chateau of Amboise introduces Italian style to the Loire Valley. It was built in the 15th and 16th centuries. Residence of kings Charles VIII and François I, it offers breathtaking views of the Loire river. In its splendid gardens, the gothic chapel shelters the grave of Leonardo da Vinci.

Drop off at Saint Pierre des Corps train station. Train transfer to Reims.

Check in at Hotel de la Paix 4* in Reims for 3 nights (Superior Double Room with breakfast and taxes included).

Day 4, Christmas market and tastings
At  9:30 am, your private English-speaking guide meets you at your hotel.

Guided tour of the town of Reims and of its Christmas market. Stroll through the streets of Reims: many sites, monuments and museums show the history of Reims, from the Gallo-Roman to the modern era, going through the Art Deco period.

Listed in the Unesco World Heritage, with more than 2 300 statues among which the famous Smiling Angel, its impressive stained glass windows, 13th century Notre-Dame de Reims Cathedral is one of Europe's most important Gothic structures. King Clovis was baptized there around 498, starting a long lasting tradition: except two, all of the Kings of France were crowned here.

Tour and tasting at Veuve Clicquot. Tour and Champagne tasting of the vintage Grande Dame. House founded in 1772 by Philippe Clicquot and his widow Barbe Nicole Clicquot Ponsardin. 1972: creation of the Grande Dame, the cuvée prestige of the Company.

Note: The Champagne house can be replaced by Mumm or Taittinger.

At around 5:30 pm, drop off at your hotel.

Day 5, Festive Champagne
At 9:30 am, your private English-speaking guide meets you at your hotel.

Scenic Route du Champagne. Your guide drives you along the Scenic Route du Champagne which meanders among the vineyards and the picturesque villages. The countryside is enamelled with beautiful Grand Cru villages like Ay, Hautvillers, Bouzy, Le Mesnil, Vernezay, etc. all nested in an ocean of vines.

Avenue de Champagne in Epernay. Sightseeing along the famous Avenue de Champagne: Epernay is internationally known as the "Capital of Champagne". Epernay’s stunning main street appears like an exhibition of opulent mansions housing the most illustrious Maisons de Champagne: Moët & Chandon, Perrier-Jouet, Mercier, etc. Not to mention the 100km of tunnels under the pavement!

Moët & Chandon: tour and Champagne tasting. Founded in 1743 by Claude Möet it becomes within 40 year the first international brand in the world. Its history is linked to some famous figures such as The Marquise de Pompadour and Napoleon 1st. This Champagne is also sold to many important historical events among which King Edwards VII’s coronation, Cannes Film Festival, the 120th anniversary of the Liberty Statue, etc…It is probably nowadays the most famous Champagne brand around the world.

Private tour and Champagne tasting lunch at a family estate. The House was created in 1875 in the little village of Damery located in the Marne’s Valley. Laure and David are proud to be today the Fifth generation of wine makers. They are focus on the respect of both traditions and ancestral working methods. Their champagne Plaisir d’Antan is for instance a good example of this philosophy: Made of a 100 percent Chardonnay, this Cuvée is aged in oak casks as it was before the creation of stainless steel vats giving a unique taste to the Champagne. They work as independant wine makers with 12 hectares of vineyards and produce 80,000 bottles.

Tour and Champagne tasting at a small producer. This is a Grand Cru family estate, located near Epernay and dedicated to the true expression of Champagne. The wine grower and blender, Bernard(RM), is established at Bouzy (a Grand Cru village) in the heart of Champagne's winegrowing country. Dating back to the 17th Century, the family has always been intimately involved in champagne production; the tradition being handed down through the generations.

Day 6, The Must-see in Paris
Pick up after breakfast. Train from Reims to Paris. In Paris, you meet with your private expert national licenced English-speaking guide.

Discover the Eiffel Tower (entrances included).

Bateau Mouche lunch cruise on the Seine. Spend a magical and convivial lunch during the Christmas season floating down the Seine, enjoying the City of Lights historic monuments: The Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame Cathedral, the Conciergerie... Christmas in Paris is certainly a magical time. Paris grandiose and long history and culture will light up in front of you as you discover the numerous sites and architectural magnificence of its monuments that made it a world famous romantic and cultural city. On the streets, shops glow with colorful Christmas displays that will warm up up from the inside during the winter cold.

Day 7, Day at leisure for shopping
Discover Montmartre on your own. Montmartre is a large hill in Paris's 18th arrondissement. Montmartre is primarily known for the white-domed Basilica of the Sacré Cœur and its night life! Many artists also had studios or worked in or around Montmartre, including Salvador Dalí, Claude Monet, Pablo Picasso.

In the afternoon, time at leisure in the Grand Magasin Haussman. The heart of Parisian and French Art of shopping are located here, along the Boulevard Haussmann. All your shopping wishes will be exhausted here. Enchanted Christmas windows display fashion, beauty, decoration, leisure, pleasure to name just a few creations that await for you at Galeries Lafayette or the Printemps. Those two stores truly are iconic french and world famous reference in international fashion and commerce since their creation in late 19th century.
