Summary

Explore the charming wine region of Beaune, known as the wine capital of Burgundy during this unforgettable, 5-day cycling tour. Discover the town and some of its famous landmarks including the Hospices de Beaune and visit the world-famous vineyards of Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet, Chagny and Pommard.

Itinerary

Day 1, Arrive in Beaune
Arrive in the wine capital, the city of of Beaune. Before or after your orientation you have time to explore this city and some of its treasures including the Hotel Dieu, also called Hospices de Beaune. Dinner on your own in town. Night in centrally located 3 star hotel with large rooms. Wine tastings and guided programs are available when booked in advance.

Day 2, Meursault Vineyards
In three riding days, you can choose between several itineraries. We can also suggest some longer, more challenging rides for those interested. Dinners on your own. Breakfast included every day.

This format allows people of all abilities to come along, including non-riding participants. We can suggest visits by car and arrange spa treatments and other great activities to experience an exciting trip in Burgundy!

  • Cotes de Beaune vineyard area (22 to 48 KM or 14 to 30 MI): Visit Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet, Chagny, Pommard, and then return to Beaune. You will find many opportunities to taste and purchase products along the way. Stay overnight in Beaune.
  • Cotes de Beaune challenging option (52 KM or 31 MI): This itinerary include the first one + Rochepot Baubigny and Nolay (more challenging ride).
  • Beaune to Savigny les Beaune (28 KM or 18 MI): This itinerary will take you towards Savigny les Beaune, a small village between the Corton Mountain and Beaune. Savigny is part of a very old vineyards which used to belong to the local Dukes and Abbeys. Its 14th C. Castle still reflects the pride and status this vineyard used to have
  • Loop around to Chateauneuf (up to 73 km or 43 miles): Ride to Chateauneuf, a beautifully quaint French wine country village over-looking the vineyard land of the Cote dOr and the Bourgogne Canal and with its Castle known as one of Burgundy's jewels of medieval architecture. This ride is a little bit more challenging due to the distance, but definitely worth it! Dinner on your own. Breakfast included.

Day 3, Cycle to Savigny-les-Beaune (39 mi or 63 km)
Choose your cycling route for today. Same options as Day 2.

Day 4, Bike the Burgundy vineyards (Option 1: 17 mi or 28 km or Option 2: 45 mi or 73 km)
Choose your cycling route for today. Same options as Day 2 and Day 3. 

Day 5, Departure Day
Departure after breakfast. Additional nights can be arranged.
