Summary

Athos is a 103 ft hotel barge that can accommodate up to 10 passengers. She has 5 staterooms that can be either a twin or queen-size double bed configuration. All cabins can be configured with twin beds or a double bed. Complimentary Wi-Fi is available on board for guests bringing their own appliances. Connectivity can be limited in remote locations.

 

The crew includes the captain, a master chef, tour guide and housekeeper.

Golf cruises include four pre-booked and paid tee times and transfers to and from the golf clubs. Hire of clubs, caddy or buggy not included. *Only those golfing pay the supplement. A minimum of 4 passengers on a golf charter are required to play golf.

Wine appreciation cruises for charter groups include a comprehensive wine itinerary with additional winery visits, private tastings and the services of a professional wine guide. Also includes an upgrade of the wine list to include additional premier and grand cru wines.

Family cruises include a tailor-made itinerary taking into consideration the ages and interests of all those in the group. Baby and child equipment can be provided at no extra cost including children’s bikes, car seats, cots, high chairs etc. Children under 18 years receive a discount on many vessels.

Tennis cruises include pre-booked and paid courts and transfers to and from the tennis clubs.

Art cruises include daily painting tuition by a qualified and experienced watercolour artist.

Terms & Conditions

Prices shown in Euros and will be converted in Australian Dollar (AUD) at time of payment using a daily ROE. An initial deposit of €800 per per passenger or 25% of the total cruise fare for charters is payable at the time of booking. The balance must be paid within 90 days (for cabin) or 120 days (for charter) as per our terms and conditions and as specified in our confirmation invoice, which will be despatched when the booking form has been processed. Cancellation policy applies to all bookings.

Itinerary 

Argeliers to Marseillan

Day 1, Sunday
Meet at the assigned meeting point, and then transfer to Athos moored in Argeliers. You will be welcomed by the captain and his crew with champagne and canapes. Enjoy you first dinner on board prepared by the chef.

Day 2, Monday
After breakfast, visit the medieval fortified city of Carcassonne with a guided tour. You have some time for shopping. Return to the barge for lunch. After lunch, cruise to La Croisade with great opportunity to walk or bike along the towpath.

Dinner on board.

Day 3, Tuesday
After breakfast, visit L'Oulibo, a local olive oil pressoir for tasting. After the olive tasting, take a short drive to Gorge de La Cesse and to Minerve, a beautiful village perched on a rocky cliff.

After lunch on board, cruise to Capestang or enjoy a wine tasting at a local château, such as Château Cabezac. Return to the hotel barge for dinner on board and admire the view of Collegiale St. Etienne.

Day 4, Wednesday
After breakfast, enjoy the weekly market in Narbonne. Explore an excavated portion of the first Roman road, Via Domitia. You can visit the Roman Museum and St. Juste Cathedral. Return to the barge for lunch, and then cruise to Fonserannes. Enjoy a game of Pétanque with the crew before dinner on board.

Day 5, Thursday
In the morning, travel to the beautiful old town of Pezenas. The town is filed with 16th to 18th century houses and artisan shops. After lunch, the Fonserannes Lock Staircase, and then navigate the Orb River. This evening’s mooring is outside the small village of Portiragnes. You have another opportunity for walking or biking.

Dinner on board.

Day 6, Friday
Start an early morning cruise to the area known as “Petit Camargue”. Look out for the local species such as pink flamingoes, African Rollers and Bee Eaters.

After crossing through the exceptional “round lock” at Agde, a spectacular and appropriate seafood lunch awaits you, as you enter the open-waters of the Etang de Thau, which boasts Europe's largest mussel and oyster park.

Moor in the port at Marseillan, you will notice the enclosure which makes up the Noilly Prat vermouth distillery. Tour the distillery and if you choose, a tasting of Noilly Pra. Captain’s farewell dinner on board.

Day 7, Saturday
After breakfast, disembark and transfer to the assigned drop-off point.
