We suggest to start with a nice long downhill toward Allemont as a way to get your legs warmed up before turning back toward Bourg d'Oisans. You can choose to go straight up Alpe d'Huez at this point, or continue your riding to La Berarde where you can take a cable car ride with your bike up to Les Deux Alpes, to start attacking the 21 switchbacks! Alpe d'Huez is a vertical climb of 1.120m (3.733 feet), 14 km (8.75 miles) long, gradients between 7.7 and 12% and 21 switchbacks is one of the most historical and heroic ones in the history of the Tour de France. Back to the same hotel with dinner and breakfast included.

Day 3, Col du Gladon & Croix de Fer - 68 mi (110 km)
Today, an easy start as you warm up slowly descending to Bourg d'Oisans and then take the valley up to the intersection indicating "Col de la Croix de Fer." At that point, you start a long climb of 30 kilometers surrounded by a sublime landscape. Once at the Col du Glandon, you have barely 3km to reach the top of the Iron Cross peaks over 2000m. Breathe deep and pat yourself on the back, you made it!

Denivelée : +4215m. Back to the same hotel with dinner and breakfast included.

Day 4, Col du Lautaret & Galibier - 42 mi (67 km)
Your legs should be ready now to attack a monument in the Alps, le Col du Galibier at 2642m. Before getting there, you will start go through the col du Lautaret to get you ready for the final climb. At that point you will go up 8.5 km at 7% and over 12% on the last meters! At the top you will be rewarded for your efforts with a magical scenery of snow-capped peaks and surrounding glaciers.
