Itinerary

Day 1, From Paris to Loire Valley
Transfer at 8:30 a.m., in a comfortable minibus from Paris to Blois. Arrive at 11:00 a.m. and meet your English-speaking guide. Lunch at leisure in Blois.

After lunch, your guide will drive to Tours for guided tour. Tours is the largest city in the Loire Valley and its capital city. Tours is the largest city in the Loire Valley and its capital city. Located in the heart of the region, it is the best base for sightseeing. Historically and architecturally speaking, it is one of the cradles of the French Renaissance. Discover the pedestrian streets of the "Old Tours" and its half-timbered houses, the cathedral, Saint-Martin Basilica.

Check in at the beautiful, 4-star Hotel Oceania de l'Univers (or similar). Enjoy dinner at your hotel (drinks included).

Day 2, Loire Valley
After breakfast, your guide will pick you up at your hotel at 9:30 a.m.

You will visit the market of Amboise and enjoy a lunch at leisure in Amboise.

After lunch, guided walking tour in Amboise and free time in Amboise or Tours. Explore the farmers’ market. There you will find the best products available for the season such as goat cheese, local charcuterie and delicatessen, hundreds of fresh fruits and vegetables... Immerse yourself in genuine French athmosphere where cooking high quality and tasteful food is part of our way of living.

Day 3, Loire Valley
After breakfast, meet your guide and pick up at your hotel at 9:30 a.m.

Discover the stunning Chateau de Chenonceau with a guided tour (includes skip-the-line entrances). The unique architecture of the Chateau makes it one of the most exquisite Chateaux in the Loire Valley. Nicknamed “the ladies castle", Chenonceau is related to important French women such as Catherine de Medici. The magnificent Renaissance gardens around it make it even more spectacular.

After the visit, your guide will drive you to experience a tour and wine tasting-lunch in Caves Duhard: You are welcomed in this cellar cave, established in 1874. Daniel, owner and wine maker, specializes in mature Vouvray wines. He has a a large range of vintages, from 1947 to today. Made of chenin blanc the Vouvray is a mineral wine with a high acidity level which gives the wine a great aging capacity. The meal is based on the discovery of Loire Valley wines around a tasting of local products. Daniel is a simple and generous man who will share with you his passion for the Loire Valley wines. (3 white wines paired with cheeses, 2 or 3 red wines - Bourgueil, Saint Nicolas de Bourgueil, Chinon paired with the meal, 1 semi-dry or swee wine with dessert).

Tour and wine tasting lunch in Caves Duhard

After lunch, enjoy a guided tour of Chateau de Chambord (includes skip-the-line entrances): In the middle of a forest as large as the city of Paris Chambord was the first Loire Valley chateau listed in the world heritage by UNESCO. Ordered in 1519 by King Francois I, with 426 rooms, 77 staircases and 282 fireplaces,, it is the largest castle in the region. Leonardo da Vinci is the creator of its incredible double helix staircase.

Day 4, Loire Valley
After breakfast, meet your guide and pick up at your hotel at 9:30 a.m.

Tour the beautiful Chateau de Villandry Gardens (includes skip-the-line entrance). The castle of Villandry, finished in 1536, is the last of the large castles to have been built on the banks of the Loire during the Renaissance. It offers of one of the most spectacular gardens of the Loire Valley. With its Renaissance, vegetable, water and herb gardens, it is definitely a must see. Long avenues of linden trees which structure the four levels of the garden, delicate silhouettes of yew trees in the topiary style, vegetables and flowers, scents and savours, calmness and energy, tranquillity and effervescence.

After your tour enjoy a wine tasting and visit at Chateau de Miere: The appellation Bourgueil produces red and rosé wines from the grape variety cabernet franc. After touring the estate, you will enjoy a delightful selection of regioanl specialities. You will pair your food with a selection of the domaines' wines.

At around 5:30 p.m., drop off at your hotel with a night at leisure in Loire Valley. Dinner on your own.

Day 5,  From Loire Valley to Bordeaux through Cognac

After breakfast, check-out then transfer in a comfortable at 9:30am, minibus from Tours to Bordeaux.

Stop in Cognac for a guided tour and tasting of Cognac in Hennessy. You are introduced to some sophisticated techniques and a range of contemporary settings revealing the characteristics of cognac. During the tour we explain you the elaboration of the cognac and present you the art of Cognac blending.
Returning to the left bank of the Charente River, discovery of the History of the house. Documents, films and old objects which are part of the company's heritage tell the story of the Founder, Richard Hennessy, an Irishman who came to France during the reign of Louis XV. After the tour, you participate to a tasting of XO cognac.

Check-in at 6:00pm at the 3-star Hotel Majestic in Bordeaux for 4 nights (or similar). Dinner at a local restaurant (drinks included).

Day 6, Bordeaux
After breakfast, meet your guide (no minibus today) at 9:30 a.m.

Guided tour of Bordeaux. Discover the city of Bordeaux and its most famous sites and its market. The historic centre of Bordeaux, Port of the Moon, the port city in south-west France, is inscribed as an inhabited historic city, an outstanding urban and architectural ensemble, created in the age of Enlightenment, whose values continued up to the first half of the 20th century, with more protected buildings than any other French city, except Paris. It is also recognized for its historic role as a place of exchange of cultural values over more than 2,000 years, particularly since the 12th century due to commercial links with Britain and the Low Lands. Urban plans and architectural of the early 18th century onwards place the city as an outstanding example of innovative classical and neo-classical trends and give it an exceptional urban and architectural unity and coherence. Its urban form represents the success of philosophers who wanted to make towns into melting pots of humanism, universality and culture.

Day 7, Bordeaux & Medoc
After breakfast, meet your guide and pick up from your hotel at 9:30 am.

Tour and wine tasting at a local domain in Medoc area. Bordeaux has its own version of the fairytale chateau, and here too there are several contenders. The seeds of the creation of the Pichon domaine, which was split to form the two Pichons of today, Baron and Lalande, may be found in the late 17th Century, when Jacques de Pichon-Longueville married Thérèse de Rauzan, daughter of Pierre de Mazure de Rauzan.

Experience a picturesque drive through the Route des Grands Crus. The Médoc, one of the world's most famous vineyard regions, invites you to follow the Route des Grands Crus. You will go past many prestigious châteaux, reflecting the prosperity and prestige of Bordeaux winegrowers -great names such as Margaux, Latour, Mouton-Rothschild, Lafite-Rothschild. Visiting the estates, you will taste wines of infinite nuances in luxurious cellars. Fine Médoc is full of vigour, with an unforgettable bouquet and inimitable finesse.

Day 8, Bordeaux & Saint Emilion
After breakfast, meet your guide and pick up at your hotel at 9:30 a.m.

Enjoy a guided tour of  Saint Emilion including the town's subterranean monuments and monolithic church. Lunch at your leisure.

Day 9, From Bordeaux to Sarlat

Day 10, Dordogne
After breakfast, meet your guide and pick up at your hotel at 9:30 a.m.

Under the guidance of Edouard, an expert, and his two dogs Farah and Titeuf, you will discover the most aromatic type of mushroom and the worldwide known savour of this gastronomic treasure. You will take part in a little forest adventure to hunter truffles, followed by a tasting and lunch.

In the afternoon, enjoy a guided tour of Sarlat. Said to have been inhabited since Gallo-Roman times, Sarlat became a prosperous city at the end of the VIII century under the reign of Pepin le Bref and Charlemagne when the benedictines established a monastery there.

Day 11,  Dordogne
After breakfast, meet your guide and pick up at your hotel at 8:30 a.m.

Guided tour of the Lascaux Cave. In September 1940, Marcel Ravidat found a cavity on Lascaux Hill. On the 12th September 1940, He came back to the place with Gerorges Agniel, Simon Coencas and Jacques Marsal. The 4 young boys decided to explore the hill, they made the cavity larger so as to slip into the cave. Just with a lamp, they were the first ones to discover the painting caves. They did found some great and unique treasures… The Lascaux cave, the finest of all prehistoric painted caves made by the Cro Magnons.

Lunch at your leisure in Beynac. After lunch, tour the town of Beynac-et-Cazenac. Beynac is considered to be one of the most beautiful villages in France located on the banks of the Dordogne River in southwest of Sarlat.

Booking Conditions - 12-Day Small Group Escorted Tours

At French Travel Connection, we have partnered with our preferred tour operator to offer an exceptional range of intimate Escorted Group Tours.

Please note that price displayed is a price from. It includes an early booking discount of $300 per person. We reserve the right to amend the price and special offers of our tours at any time. Single supplement apply. No minimum passengers for guaranteed departure. Accommodation is subject to change according to their availability upon reservation. Should they not be available, we will offer you alternatives of same standard. 

INCLUSIONS & ITINERARY VARIATIONS
Please refer to the detailed itinerary of the tour for what is included/not included in the price. Please note that the pick-up point and drop off point are defined by the Tour Operator and cannot be changed. All possible effort will be made to adhere to the published touring itinerary. Occasionally circumstances beyond our control will force changes, amendments or modifications to the itinerary and its inclusions such as accommodation, excursions, transfers, meals, drinks or other services. The Tour Operator or French Travel Connection cannot be held responsible for any omissions or modifications to the itinerary and its inclusions such as accommodation, excursions, transfers, meals, drinks or other services.

BOOKINGS
All reservations are subject to availability at the time of booking. Any verbal quote given is only an estimate of the price which will be effective only upon the issuing of a written advice on confirmation of the reservation. All bookings with French Travel Connection (“FTC”) are subject to the terms and conditions and limitations of liability imposed by airlines, hoteliers, coach operators, and other service providers including, but not limited to, rail, car hire and restaurant operators whose services we utilise, some of which limit or exclude liability in respect of death, personal injury, delay and loss or damage to baggage. Bookings with carriers or tour operators are also subject to the carrier’s terms and conditions as printed or referred to in their tickets and/or timetables and/or regulations. FTC and/or its agents reserve the right, without notice, to modify, cancel or withdraw any of the arrangements and in this event the full amounts paid will be returned to the customer, and upon rendering the same, all liability of FTC and/or its agents in respect thereof shall cease. FTC and/or its agents reserve the right to decline to accept or retain any person as a member of any group at any time. FTC reserves the right to adjust any price without notice whatsoever at any time up to the day full payment is received by FTC.

DEPOSITS, FINAL PAYMENT
A non-refundable deposit of 35% per booking must be paid at the time of booking. Bookings for which this deposit is not received are subject to cancellation without notice. If FTC is unable to confirm the requested arrangements the deposit will be fully refundable. *Please note that for any service held on an option a firm reservation cannot be made until the required deposit is received. Option periods is 5 business days - if a deposit is not received within the option period FTC may be unable to confirm the service. The balance payment must be received not less than 90 days prior to departure. If the balance payment is not received by FTC by the due date, we reserve the right to treat the booking as cancelled and to apply the appropriate cancellation charges. Payments by credit card are subject to merchant fees.

CANCELLATION AND REFUNDS
Should you or any member of your party wish to cancel, you must advise your Travel Agent and/or FTC in writing. Such written advice should be signed by the person who made the original booking. The cancellation is not effective until FTC receives the written advice. Cancellations are subject to a fee as follows:

  • 90 days, or more, prior to date of first service: deposit
  • 89 days, or less, prior to date of first service: 100% of total cost

*Please note that it is your responsibility to request from your Travel Agent or FTC the details of terms and conditions, and to ensure that you have understood their contents. The payment of your deposit constitutes an acceptance of those terms and conditions and your acknowledgement that you will be bound by their cancellation fee charges. No refund is made on any pre-booked services or other travel not utilised. No refund is available for cancellation after the tour has commenced or in respect of any tours, accommodation, meals or any other services not utilised. No refund is available for transport and museum passes. Cancellation of confrmed services forming part of an existing booking will incur cancellation fees as listed. FTC does not authorise any overseas supplier to promise refunds on our behalf.

INSURANCE
It is strongly recommended that, at the time of booking, you purchase a comprehensive travel insurance policy of your choice. We suggest that the policy should include, but not be limited to the following features: Loss of deposit through cancellation, personal baggage, loss of money, medical expenses, additional expenses to cover hotel accommodation and repatriation costs to Australia should the tour or holiday need to be extended or curtailed due to illness while overseas, or due to the need to return to Australia because of unexpected death or illness of a close relative. Please consult your Travel Agent on the insurance policy most suitable for your needs.

VISA, TRAVEL DOCUMENTS
Passengers should familiarise themselves with any and all health or visa requirements that may be applicable in the areas they intend visiting. They shall be responsible for all exit, entry, health and other documents required by laws, regulations, orders, demands or requirements of the countries visited or transited. Each person shall carry a valid passport at all times. An Australian Re-Entry Permit must be obtained for those not holding Australian passports. Kindly note that passport and visa requirements are not our responsibility or that of your Travel Agent and we are not liable for any loss or expense due to a passenger‘s failure to comply with the above or any statutory requirement made in any country whatsoever.

LUGGAGE
Luggage, including personal articles, is at all times and in all circumstances at the risk of its owners except to the extent of any insurance purchased by the customer. It is also the passenger’s responsibility to enquire prior to departure about the restrictions placed by any carrier or tour operator on the amount, weight or volume of luggage allowed and to comply with those requirements. Failure to do so might incur additional charges or refusal to carry the excess luggage.

RESPONSIBILITY
The obligation of FTC to you is to make travel bookings on your behalf and allow you to obtain travel related products from third parties. FTC acts as Booking Agent only for the persons or companies offering or providing the means of travel, conveyance, transport, accommodation or other service and all receipts, tickets, vouchers, coupons or exchange orders are issued subject to the terms and conditions under which transportation and other services are provided. FTC does not accept any liability whatsoever for the acts, omissions or default, whether negligent or otherwise, of those Airlines, coach operators, shipping companies, hoteliers or other persons providing services in connection with your tour or travel pursuant to a contract between them and yourselves and over whom we have no direct and exclusive control. We do not accept liability in contract or in tort for any accident, injury, damage, loss, delay, irregularity, additional expenses or inconvenience caused directly or indirectly by any act or event which are beyond our control, or which are not preventable by reasonable diligence on our part including, but not limited to, war, civil disturbance, fre, floods, pandemic, unusually severe weather, acts of God, acts of Government or of any other authorities, accidents to or failure of machinery or equipment or industrial action (whether or not involving our employees and even though such action may be settled by acceding to demands of a labour group). Maps and photographs are only included for the purpose of general information and do not necessarily indicate actual itineraries or location of services provided.

EXTRA SERVICES
FTC, its agents and any tour operator or provider of services is not liable for any changes, fees or costs not included in the services offered, and any additional costs are the responsibility of the passenger. If you request extra services, please advice 80 days prior tour departure, extra cost may apply if available

ERRORS OR OMISSIONS (E&OE)
We reserve the right to correct any errors in rates quoted or calculated for any service, notwithstanding that the invoice may have been paid in full. It is the responsibility of the Travel Agent to ensure all invoice details are correct and that the client acknowledges all cancellation conditions

GUARANTEED DEPARTURES
All Small Group Escorted Tour programs are group touring programs. The term ‘group tour’ is defined as having a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 16 passengers travelling. The tour is a guaranteed departure.

FORCE MAJEURE
If the tour cannot proceed due to flood, earthquake, war or civil strike, acts of terrorism, hurricane, cyclone, industrial disturbance, strike, fire, lock out, epidemic, pandemic, failure or delays of scheduled transportation facilities, or other Acts of God, or any law, order, decree, rule or regulation of any government authority, or for any reason whether of a similar or dissimilar nature beyond the control of the supplier, this agreement shall terminate and there shall be no claim for damages by either party against the other.

TWIN SHARE ROOMS
Please note: Throughout much of central Europe traditional hotels sometimes offer ‘French Twins’ which are 2 separate beds and mattresses attached together and sharing a single headboard.

SINGLE SUPPLEMENTS
Single supplements apply. Single rooms in European Hotels are sometime smaller than twin rooms. The Single Supplements represent a fee passed on to us by the Hotels.

HOTEL ACCOMMODATION
In the unlikely instance of a hotel change becoming necessary, the alternative property will be of a comparable and there shall be no refund in this connection. Non-smoking rooms are requested, however they cannot be guaranteed as not all European hotels offer dedicated non-smoking rooms.

SPECIAL DIETARY REQUESTS
Please note requests for special dietary requirements cannot be guaranteed at all European hotels and restaurants.

NOT INCLUDED IN THE TOUR PRICE
Unless otherwise indicated we have not included flights, visas, airport taxes, port taxes, security charges, items of a personal nature, laundry, meals, transfers, drinks and consumables.

COMPLAINTS

  • In the unlikely event of a complaint, the client is obliged to make French Travel Connection and the local supplier aware of such problems immediately.
  • French Travel Connection will only consider claims made against it in those circumstances where a complaint has been made pursuant to sub paragraph (a) above and where the claim has been received by within 30 days from the end of the services provided, otherwise, the client will have no right to make any claim against it.
