Canal boats travel at a leisurely 5km per hour. On average you will cover 120 to 150km per week.
Remember that half the fun
of canal boating is getting off your boat to explore on
foot, by bicycle or car, the many attractions of the
surrounding area.

Easy handling
You do not need a licence to hire any of the canal boats. Some basic boat or dinghy handling will be helpful but not necessary. Generally two people can handle a small boat by themselves, but you will need to be reasonably fit. If in doubt consult us for advice or take some friends along to muck in and give you a hand. On your arrival you will receive a detailed briefing about your boat and the canal.
