Description 

Summary

Start the tour in recently declared UNESCO city of Bordeaux. Pick up will be in front of centrally located Bordeaux tourism office. Here you will visit the most famous wine regions of the area. The tour will then move along towards the Dordogne region where you will be based in Sarlat. Pickup will be at centrally located Place Pasteur bus stop. Small Dordogne villages, incredible medieval castles, stunning cave paintings will be on your program. This tour also includes Pech Merle cave, which still possesses authentic drawings and engravings as well as the breathtaking village of Saint-Cirq-Lapopie, declared preferred village of the French in 2012. Minimum 2 persons required for tour to depart and maximum 8 participants per tour.

Itinerary

Day 1 MEDOC FULL DAY WINE TOUR - SHARED
Leave Bordeaux in the morning and follow the châteaux route where you will come across such pearls as Château Margaux, Château Palmer or Mouton Rothschild. Your first stop will be in one of our selected Classified growths where you will enjoy a visit of the installations and a wine tasting session. Then, enjoy some free time for lunch. In the afternoon, visit and wine taste in 2 other selected classified growths. Appellations visited include Margaux, Saint Julien, Pauillac and Saint Estephe. Night in Bordeaux.

Day 2 POMEROL & SAINT EMILION FULL DAY WINE TOUR - SHARED
Today your tour will take you to the right bank of the River Garonne. Your first stop will be in one of our selected classified growth chateau's of the appellation: Pomerol or Saint Emilion. Here you will follow a guided visit of the installations and enjoy a wine tasting session. Then follow your guide on a walking tour of the village. After some free time for lunch and personal discovery, we will take you to another selected chateau for a visit and wine tasting session. Return to Bordeaux after the visit and night in Bordeaux

Day 3 TRANSFER FROM BORDEAUX TO SARLAT - PRIVATE
This morning enjoy some free time in Bordeaux to admire some of the UNESCO monuments or why not shop in one of the longest shopping streets of Europe? After lunch, pick up at your hotel and departure transfer for the town of Sarlat la Canéda. Night in Sarlat.

Day 4 SARLAT GUIDED WALKING TOUR / DOMME VILLAGE VISIT / DORDOGNE BOAT RIDE - SHARED
In the morning, follow a guided walking tour of historic Sarlat, a rich merchant town of the 18th century. Then reach the small village of Domme. Enjoy a walking tour and some free time for personal discovery. Then we drive to the beautiful village of La Roque Gageac where you will depart on a boat ride on the River Dordogne. Finally, we head to Beynac where you will admire a truly spectacular view and one of the most impressive medieval castles of the Dordogne. Walking tour in the village and free time for personal discovery.

Day 5 LASCAUX II VISIT & THE ART OF THE CAVES - SHARED
Some 15,000 years B.C. unknown painters created breath taking cave paintings of which the most extraordinary examples are found in the Dordogne area. During this day enjoy some time in Les Eyzies and follow your guide on a commented visit of the National Prehistory Museum. Continue to Rouffignac Cave that possesses original and authentic engravings dating back to the late Magdalenian. Finally, visit of Lascaux II a perfect reproduction of the original cave.

Day 6 ROCAMADOUR VISIT - SHARED
In the morning, fepart for the pilgrimage and fortress village of Rocamadour that has attracted visitors for its setting in a gorge above a tributary of the River Dordogne. The village is renowned for its historical monuments and its sanctuary of the Blessed Virgin Mary, which for centuries has brought pilgrims from every country, among them kings, bishops, and nobles. Here, follow your guide and visit the renowned Notre Dame Chapel, part of an extraordinary 13th-century chapel complex perched on a cliff and one of the most dramatic pilgrimage sites in Europe. Enjoy some free time for personal discovery and return to Sarlat. Afternoon in Sarlat is free for you to enjoy. Return to Sarlat. End of our services.
