4 October, 2004 - "Just writing to let you know that we greatly appreciated being able to visit the Somme Battlefield.  We have been back in Australia for about a week now and I have been reading all that I can get my hands on about the Somme battles to reinforce all that I have experienced.

The guide and the host were excellent.  The tour was tailored to suit our needs.  We visited the grave of my great uncle at Daours on the 86th anniversary of his death on the 24th of August and saw places on the battlefield where he would have been during the war.

All Australians should try to have this experience.  We were greatly moved by the way that the Australian soldiers are still remembered and commemorated in the villages in which they served.  This was very apparent at Villers-Bretonneux and Pozieres where the Australian flag may be seen flying proudly with the French flag every day."
