Highlights
|
“Domaine Des Morillons” is named in honour of an antique variety of
grape – it is a 400-year-old French estate set on extensive grounds
beside the Armancon River, 150 km SE from Paris – near Auxerre. It
includes the main house, a private guest cottage, historic barns,
wine cellars, and 500 acres of farm land.
The main
house overlooks private gardens and the rich Burgundy
countryside. The estate has been renovated to reflect
traditional French style and each guest room is charmingly
decorated with antiques and French furnishings. All have private
bathrooms.
Enjoy the
unrivalled hospitality of your hosts, Didier and Francoise
Brunot, the owners of this family estate. Each day you will
learn about the traditions, food, and wine of Burgundy.
During your
stay at Domaine Des Morillons, you may choose among several
excursions related to the local wine region, charming villages,
historic 12th century cathedrals, and other sites of interest.
Or, you may spend your days on a special Golf Tour of local
courses that Didier can arrange.
You have
your choice of excursions/activities:
-
A visit of
the Auxerre area and wine country.
-
A visit of
the Chablis wine country and
the Renaissance castles of Tanlay and Ancy-Le-Franc and to
the
the 15th century fortified town of Noyers.
-
A visit of the
picturesque town of Vezelay and its amazing basilica.
Lunches
during the days will be on your own and are taken in traditional
Burgundian restaurants. In the evening you dine at the estate,
partaking of the delicious specialties of the Burgundy region
prepared by Françoise and accompanied by wines selected by
Didier from his cellar. Francoise invites you to join her in the
kitchen, either helping prepare the meal or watching and
relaxing while sipping a glass of wine.
From tiny
villages on quiet canals to rolling vineyards surrounding pretty
chateaus, Burgundy is a region of wine and gastronomy. This area
is home to world famous wines like Chablis and
Puligny-Montrachet. It is also known for such classic French
dishes as escargots, coq au vin, boeuf bourguignon, and jambon
persille.
No matter what your interests are — food and
wine, history, architecture, or just simple relaxation — there
is something here for everybody.
You can arrive in Paris and be picked by Didier
at the airport or from your hotel
and driven to Domaine des Morillons. Along the way, you can
visit the Castle of Fontainebleau or Vaux-le-Vicomte before
arriving at the manor house or you can be transferred from
Auxerre which is a distance of 25 kms.
