Language Classes: Aix en Provence

2008 Course Dates and Rates

These classes are operated by one of the leading French language schools in France, established in 1972 in Aix en Provence, and specialise in teaching French as a foreign language to overseas nationals. The teachers are professional university graduates, specially trained in teaching French to foreigners, in small groups.

On your first day, a simple evaluation test will determine your level of competency and the appropriate class for you.

The school is in a very convenient location a few minutes walk from the city centre.

Based on a communicative method, the program covers discussion, role plays, short talks, written expression, essays and suggested dialogues in which grammar is practiced.

Number of lessons a week: 20, in the mornings

Level of French: Elementary to advanced (Beginners accepted at specific dates)

This program combines the General French (FG) with excursions and activities in the afternoons and during the weekend.

Activities and excursions: 

*  Guided tour of Aix en Provence the first Monday afternoon

*  An audio-visual presentation of the region

*  ½ day excursion to the Luberon and its picturesque villages

*  2 Cultural visits: (atelier Paul Cezanne and one of the various museums in Aix)

*  ½ day excursion to Marseilles and Cassis

*  Afternoon wine tasting

*  Petanque Championships for students

*  Cooking lesson followed by shared dinner

*  Full day excursion to Avignon and Pont du Gard

This course combines the General French (FG) with activities focused on French cooking, wine and cheese tasting, and a discovery of other specialties of the Provencal cuisine.

All activities are accompanied by our teachers and combine linguistic and culinary aspects.

Activities include: 

*  Guided tour of Aix en Provence on the first Monday afternoon

*  An introduction to the Provencal cooking

*  Cheese presentation and tasting

*  Wine tasting

*  Visit to a vineyard and olive oil mill

*  3 afternoons of practical cooking classes, followed by a shared
    dinner in a private home
