Canal boats travel at a leisurely 5km per hour.  In average you will cover 120 to 150km per week which represents the distance between two red dots or two bases.  Remember that half the fun of canal boating is getting off your boat to explore on foot, bicycle or car the many attractions of the surrounding areas.  And do not worry, there are endless great little local restaurants, along the canals to get you out of the galley.
