Fleur de Lys is a luxurious péniche (barge) laid out over two decks accommodating six guests in gracious elegance and with amenities that epitomise the concept of ultimate luxury. The top deck consists of a swimming pool and sun deck; salon and dining room and one state cabin. The lower deck consists of two state cabins. The barge is air conditioned throughout.
 


 

Cruise Highlights:

Fleur de Lys cruises the classic Burgundy wine route bordering France’s famous Côte d’Or and presents guests with the chance to visit famous vineyards including Meursault, Montrachet, Clos de Vougeot and Pomard. The River Saône, Canal du Centre and Canal du Bourgogne feature extensively in all itineraries.


 

Sample itineraries

Itinerary 1 - Dijon to Saint-Leger


Sunday - Paris to Le Creusot and Digoin.
Depart Paris, Gare de Lyon, in the afternoon on the TGV train. On arrival at Le Creusot station you are met by your guide who transfers you to the barge at Digoin for your cruise through Burgundy. A champagne reception welcomes you and gives you the chance to meet the crew. Take a brief evening cruise across the Loire river on the canal bridge which connects the Canal du Centre to the Canal Latéral à la Loire.

Monday - Cruise to Paray-le-Monial. Visit La Clayette.
This morning, enjoy a leisurely cruise to Paray Le Monial. After lunch, drive through the countryside to La Clayette to visit the specialty chocolate shop of M. Bernard Dufoux. The master himself will demonstrate the art of making chocolate, followed by a private tasting. Car enthusiasts may tour the vintage car museum just around the corner where all the vehicles are for sale.

Tuesday - Tour Paray-le-Monial. Cruise to Genélard. Visit Cluny.
After breakfast, take a short walk to Paray-le-Monial, with its famous Basilica of the Sacré Coeur and site of pilgrimage since 1873. After lunch, visit Cluny, a little town dominated by its great benedictine abbey.

Wednesday – Visit Montceau les Mines. Cruise to Blanzy. Visit Autun.
This morning, take a short drive to the canal-side market at Montceau les Mines. Later, tour the city of Autun, founded by emperor Augustus and known as one of the leading cities of Roman Gaul. Visit the roman amphitheatre, one of the largest in France with a seating capacity of 17,000.

Thursday - Visit Château Marguerite de Bourgogne. Cruise to St. Julien-sur-Dheune.
Cruise to Montchanin, where you disembark for your trip to Couches. Enjoy lunch in the grounds of the Château Marguerite de Bourgogne and a private wine tasting in the secret passages beneath the chateau. Return to the barge for a late afternoon cruise to St. Julien-sur-Dheune, a small country mooring and a quiet place to walk or bicycle.

Friday - Cruise to St. Léger-sur-Dheune. Visit Beaune.
Today, tour the famous Cote d'Or, home of Burgundy's finest vineyards: Meursault, Puligny, Montrachet, Santenay. Later, visit Beaune, the capital of Burgundy for a tour of the famous 15th century Hôtel Dieu, Hospice de Beaune. Farewell gala dinner on board.

Saturday - Dijon-Paris.
After breakfast disembark the barge and and transfer to Dijon rail station. Return to Paris (Gare de Lyon) on the TGV where you are met by our representative who will assist you with your luggage.
 

Itinerary 2: Dijon to Escommes

Sunday – Paris to Dijon.
Depart Paris, Gare de Lyon, on the TGV train in the afternoon. On arrival at Dijon station you are met by your guide and transferred to the barge at Dijon’s Port du Canal for your cruise through Burgundy. A champagne reception welcomes you and gives you a chance to meet the crew. A delicious dinner is served later that evening.

Monday - Cruise to Fleurey-sur-Ouche. Visit Clos de Vougeot.
Leaving Dijon, the canal follows the river Ouche where small-unspoiled villages and green, forested hills provide exceptional views from the deck. This afternoon’s excursion is a dégustation in Vougeot and a visit to “Clos de Vougeot”, a medieval château and the headquarters of the Chevaliers du Tastevin, whose special label is awarded annually to the finest Côte d’Or vintages. The barge moors for the night in Fleury-sur-Ouche.

Tuesday – Cruise to Gissey. Visit Dijon.
After breakfast, while the barge cruises to Gissey, your guide takes you on a walking tour of Dijon including a visit to the Ducal Palace, the market and the Grey Poupon mustard shop. Return to the boat for lunch and an afternoon’s cruise to the charming village of Gissey.

Wednesday - Cruise to La Bussière. Visit Château de Savigny-lès-Beaune
Mid-morning, disembark the boat for a visit to l’Abbaye de la Bussière, which was built in the 12th century under the guidance of the Cistercian monks from Citeaux. Enjoy a tour of the grounds and have lunch in the one Michelin star restaurant. In the afternoon, visit the 15thcentury Château de Savigny-lès-Baune set in its own vineyard and housing a huge collection of antique motorbikes, cars and planes.

Thursday – Cruise to Pont d’Ouche. Visit Beaune.
Relax with a morning cruise through the rolling hills of the Ouche Valley to Pont d’Ouche. After lunch visit Beaune, capital of the wine region of Burgundy and the famous Hôtel-Dieu, Hospice de Beaune. Sample some of the local wines before returning to the barge.

Friday - Cruise to Escommes. Visit Châteauneuf-en-Auxois.
Cruise to Escommes then after lunch visit Châteauneuf-en-Auxois. Both the village and the château have a long and interesting history. This is followed by a tour of the surrounding countryside. Farewell gala dinner on board.

Saturday – Dijon -Paris.
After breakfast disembark the barge and transfer to Dijon station. Board the TGV to Paris, Gare de Lyon, where you are met by our representative who will assist you with your luggage.
 

Itinerary 3: Escommes to Saint-Jean


Sunday – Paris to Dijon.
Depart Paris, Gare de Lyon, on the TGV train in the afternoon. On arrival at Dijon station you are met by your guide and transferred to the barge at Escommes for your cruise through Burgundy. A champagne reception gives you a chance to meet the crew. Later that evening; enjoy your first dining experience on board.

Monday – Cruise to La Bussière. Visit Châteauneuf en Auxois.
After breakfast, enjoy your first day cruising on the Canal de Bourgogne. Small-unspoiled villages and green, forested hills provide exceptional views from the deck. This afternoon, visit the lovely hill-top village of Châteauneuf en Auxois.

Tuesday – Cruise to Fleurey-sur-Ouche. Tour Beaune.
Relax on-board this morning as the barge cruises toward the charming village of Fleurey sur Ouche. After lunch your guide takes you to visit Beaune, capital of the wine region of Burgundy and the famous Hôtel Dieu, Hospice de Beaune.

Wednesday – Cruise to Dijon. Visit La Bussière and Chateau de Commarin.
Visit the Abbey la Bussière built in the 12thcentury under the guidance of the Cistercian monks from Cluny. After a stroll in the grounds we have lunch in the one Michelin star restaurant. In the afternoon we visit the Château de Commarin, an interesting castle that has been continuously occupied since it was built in the 14th century.

Thursday - Cruise to Longecourt. Visit Clos de Vougeot and Longecourt.
Tour the Côte d’Or, planted with vines that produce some of the world’s most famous wines and visit some of the finest wine producers in France. Visit the Clos de Vougeot, a medieval chateau and the head quarters of the Chevaliers du Tastevin, whose special label is awarded annually to the finest Cote d’Or vintages. On the way back to the barge visit the Château de Longecourt.

Friday - Cruise to St Jean. Visit Dijon.
This morning your guide takes you on a walking tour of Dijon. Visit the Ducal Palace, the market and the Grey Poupon mustard shop. During the day the barge slowly makes its way to its final mooring at St Jean. Farewell gala dinner on board.

Saturday - Dijon to Paris.
After breakfast disembark the barge and transfer to Dijon station. Board the TGV to Paris, Gare de Lyon, where you are met by our representative who will assist you with your luggage.
