onwards -
French Travel Connection
regularly offers training and work placement to French
students who wish to improve their English as well as their
knowledge of the travel industry. This is a unique
opportunity to learn about every aspect of the operation of
a small-middle sized company. Preference is given to
students in tourism, occasionally in marketing.
Content
Students must speak English
fairly well but do not require any specific experience and
will receive basic training in the many aspects of our
industry and will be required to carry out a very broad
range of duties and including:

Internet - website design, internet use

Product development and costing using
Excel
-
Marketing and advertising
-
Brochure production using Word &
Microsoft Publisher
-
Production and distribution of
Newsreleases and Press releases using Word & Microsoft
Publisher.

General administration
(office duties, faxing, post office,
photocopying & filing)
-
Data Base entry for mail-outs & general
marketing activities
We use Galileo reservation
system but the trainee will not be required to use this.
Duration
We welcome trainees all
year round. The duration of the work placement can vary
considerably according to the applicant’s requirements and
our availability at the time. Minimum period is three months
and can be up to twelve months. Generally we have one,
occasionally two trainees at the same time.
Salary
We provide considerable training and
experience in the operation of a busy and successful travel
company. Moreover, we provide salary after one month of
training.
Our staff can provide advice on arrival to organise
accommodation.

Once your application is
accepted by us, the following needs to be done:
Step 1:
You must send us first by fax then by mail your completed "Convention
de Stage" from your school. It must be filled out in
English.
Step 2: At
the same time you need to apply for a Working Travel Holiday
Visa as below :

Step 3:
As soon as we receive your convention we will send it back to
you.
We can offer some
assistance in finding suitable accommodation. Most of our
trainees book their first two weeks in a Youth Hostel or
cheap hotel until they find some share accommodation in a
house or apartment with other youths. This is readily
available and costs around AUD$150 per week.
Please note that due to the
structure of our company, we are do not offer internships
in the following fields: Finance, Accounting & Human Resources.
